Howl is a turn-based puzzle and tactics folktale set in the Middle Ages, where a mysterious howling plague turns anyone who hears the beasts’ howls into feral creatures. The heroine was born deaf, which protects her from the curse.

Play as a combat Prophet who can foretell enemies’ moves and plan up to six steps ahead. Use arrows such as exploding, lightning, and piercing shots, along with skills like Smoke Bombs and Shadow Step’s Invisibility, to fight different kinds of beasts.

The game uses a “living ink” art style and takes place in a dark fairy-tale world. It features 5 chapters in total, including the free Heart of Rot update, with each chapter having its own visual atmosphere and soothing music.

Heart of Rot is a free update chapter that sends the Prophet to the Capital, where she has heard rumors of a cure for the Howl. It includes its own chapter map, new enemies, a new boss level, new environment mechanics, the Lightning Shot skill, and an NPC who fights alongside her in later levels.
