Overview
Men of War: Condemned Heroes is a single-player WWII strategy game where you command a Soviet penal battalion through campaigns on the Eastern Front, from 1942 in Ukraine to 1945 in Poland and Germany.
About the game
The game tells the story of a Soviet penal battalion during the Second World War. These battalions were formed under Stalin’s “No step back!” order #227 and were made up of court-martialed officers sent to carry out the most dangerous tasks.
The story follows one of these companies across the Eastern Front, from battles in 1942 in Volyn in Ukraine to Operation “Bagration” in the Brest area, the Magnush bridgehead, and the Warsaw area in Poland. It ends with attacks on German Altdam and Stettin near the end of the war.
It includes four single-player campaigns covering 1942 to 1945, along with bonus missions focused on other non-penal army units. The game also features new photorealistic human models, faces, and uniforms.
It is affected by the GameSpy shutdown on 31 May, but can still be played through LAN, DirectIP, and GameRanger.
