You can decide the pace of the advance, switch to defensive strategies when needed, and manage your army while accounting for weather and time. The German forces aim to breach Moscow before winter halts their progress, while the Red Army must stop the invasion.

The campaign features 20 maps in the region leading to Moscow and 40 unit types to lead. Forces include Wehrmacht units such as the Panzerbüchse 1939, StuG III B, and Sd.Kfz. 222, and Red Army units such as PPSh-41 assault troopers, the T-34 Model 1940, and the KV-1 L-11.

Combat also includes morale, weather and time of day effects, destructible environments, building cover, line of sight and detection changes, smoke screens, and artillery or air support when logistics and weather permit.
