An easy-to-use interface is designed to let novice players take command immediately. The game also includes a comprehensive editor for creating custom scenarios and campaigns, with over 1000 uniform combinations, 80+ weapons, and 28 nationalities.

It features gunshot, explosion, and fire animations, and campaigns and scenarios can be played from either side as stand-alone, two player, or email games. The Gazetteer encyclopedia provides historical background on encounters, wars, and weapons, and the computer opponent AI is described as unparalleled.

The base game includes 8 campaigns and 62 scenarios, and the campaign expansion adds 3 campaigns and 30 scenarios.
